Easter Sunday
This morning I could not help myself. I went through the old stained envelop searching for the date-nut applesauce cake recipe printed on the index card nearly forty years ago when I was newly married. The recipe itself is so old there are no instructions just the list of ingredients in the order that any practiced baker knows. Sweet butter, sugar, eggs. Flour,cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice. Dates, applesauce, walnuts. Simple: cream, stir, sift, fold. Bake slow for a long time.
